WWII - Front Theatre 1943
Women put make-up on for their perfomance in a front theatre on the Eastern Front, published 9 January 1943. The Nazi Propaganda on the back of the image reads: Front theatre! With powder and make-up, these artists moved into a bunker near the Volkhov River. Even if it is not a theatre dressing room, the preparations for the performance have to be carefully made. On the walls, the images of the wifes and brides of the soldiers are pictured. A typical Volkhov bunker! Photo: Berliner Veralg/Archiv
