The Toba are an ethnic group in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. The Gran Chaco is a sparsely populated, hot and semi-arid lowland natural region of the Rio de la Plata basin, sometimes called the Chaco Plain. Northern Argentina reaches into the Gran Chaco. This picture shows a Toba woman carrying a hide case, worn round the neck. The word Maleta also translates as saddlebag
