Remains of Mr Maidment found in Pioneer Cavern 1852

Rescue party comes across the skeletal remains of John Maidment, the catechist for the Gardiner mission to Picton Island in Tierra del Fuego. The entire party died of starvation after supplies were severely delayed in arriving and the party forgot to bring the shot from the ship with them to hunt for food. A man holding a lantern stands at the height of the cave, finding only a skeleton and several wooden boxes. The man behind him is looking at a large book or manifest, as another man farther away hides his face behind his hands
