The Edict of Fontainebleau
The edict of Fontainebleau revoked the Huguenots right to worship their religion without persecution from the state, which had been granted by the edict of Nantes 1598. This led to the destruction of Huguenot churches and the closing of Huguenot schools, as well as an early brain drain, as France lost a large number of skilled craftsmen
