The 24 hour Bicycle Race at Herne Hill 1892
The 24 hour Bicycle race at Herne Hill velodrome, underway on the 22nd July 1892. The race was won by F.W. Shorland (centre in image) who rode a geared ordinary (or penny farthing') to achieve a distance of 413 miles. J.M. James (on the right of the image, in white shirt) came second with a distance of 407 miles
