The Acid Bath Murder
Page from The Illustrated London News reporting on the acid bath murder with John George Haigh, charged with the murder of Mrs Olive Henrietta Durand-Deacon, a wealthy widow who had been missing from the Onslow Court Hotel, Kensington since 18th February 1949. The article shows scenes of investigation, officers involved as well as photographs of the victim and another couple, Dr. Archibald and Mrs Henderson, who were also reported missing. Durand-Deacon was the last of Haigh's eight victims, and he was eventually convicted and sentenced to death by hanging at Wandsworth Prison on 10th August 1949
