Advertisement for Elspeth Phelps of Albemarle St, London, part of a series depicting tongue in cheek scenes of society ladies (in this case the fictional Miss Lanoline Lobb). Phelps was one of the leading purveyors of fine lady's fashions in London during the First World War and 1920s. She worked with the notorious designer Reggie le Veulle. Her business later merged with the couturier Paquin
