Advertisement for John Redfern, ladies tailor, as favoured by the leader of fashion, the Princess of Wales. Redfern began as a draper in Cowes, Isle of Wight, but the patronage of the future Queen Alexandra and other European royalties saw the company expand to London, New York and Paris, where it became one of the leading fashion houses specialising in smart tailormades for women
