Americans presented at court, 1938
Portrait of six lucky American girls chosen to be presented at court on 11 May 1938. This small number followed the announcement that only Americans domiciled in the UK could be considered for presentation. Notable among the women here, presented by Mrs Kennedy, wife of the American ambassador Joseph Kennedy, are Kathleen ('Kick') Kennedy (who later married Billy Cavendish, heir to the Devonshire dukedom), her sister Rosemary, as well as (large picture right), Miss Rosamond Harris Siedel, Miss Virginia Lee Howard (middle left), Mrs Douglas Jenkins (bottom left) and Mrs Warren Sewell Lockwood (bottom right)
