The anchorage at Yerba Buena in the bay of San Francisco, Alta-California, with several ships and sea birds, 1846. There were five missionary establishments there at this time, named the missions of Dolores, Santa Clara, St Jose, St Francisco Solano and St Raphael. The missions had a population of 500 American Indians and 200 white people
