Archduke Franz Ferdinand & family, visit to England, 1913

Page from The Sketch documenting the forthcoming visit of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his family (his wife, the Duchess of Hohenberg and three children, Prince Maximilian, Prince Ernest and Princess Sophie), to England in November 1913 where they stayed with King George V and Queen Mary at Windsor Castle. The assassination of the Archduke by Serbian nationalists the following June would be the catalyst for the eruption of tensions among the European powers leading to the First World War
