Battle Areas from a Woman's Point of View, Helen McKie

Impressions in shell-shattered France by Helen McKie. McKie, a staff artist for The Bystander (and sister paper, The Graphic), travelled extensively around Europe, before, during and after the First World War. This series, published in The Bystander in 1919, conveyed scenes of the ruined post-war landscapes of France, and of the women coping in such conditions.
