Battle of Cape Matapan

British and Greek destroyers pick up Italian sailors, survivors from the warships sunk during the battle. Allied ships were forced to leave the scene by late morning due to fear of enemy air attack, but the location of survivors was broadcast by the British and safe passage given to an Italian hospital ship in order to continue the rescue operation
