The body of Shackleton taken ashore at South Georgia
Front cover of the Illustrated London News, 11th March 1922 showing the body of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, wrapped in the White Ensign, being taken ashore from the Quest at Gryt Viken, South Georgia. The figure in the motor boat in the centre, wearing a coat, is Captain Leonard Hussey. Subsequently, the body was conveyed to Montevideo in Uruguay on the way home to England, but Lady Shackleton decided instead to have it taken back to South Georgia for burial there
