Britannia statue in Boulogne 1938
The new great statue of Britannia in Boulogne harbour unveiled on the 19th July 1938, by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth consort, to commemorate the landing of the British Expeditionary Force, in the First World War, symbolising Anglo-French friendship. Unfortunately the statue was short lived and was destroyed on the 1st July 1940 by the Germans
