Bruce Ingram

Sir Bruce Stirling Ingram (1877 - 1963), journalist and newspaper editor. The grandson of the paper's founder, Herbert Ingram, he edited the Illustrated London News from 1900 to 1963, the longest tenure of any Fleet Street editor. He also simultaneously edited The Sketch magazine for forty years, the magazine from which this photograph is taken. He is pictured surrounded by bound volumes of The Illustrated London News, most of which are now housed here at Mary Evans Picture Library as part of the ILN archive
