Canberra: the swimming-pool
Colour illustration depicting the swimming pool of P&O's super-liner Canberra'. Designed by architects Casson and Rendle, the pool was of white mosaic and set within tiers of sunbathing terraces. The teak flooring continued into the Abolido Club. The internal design of Canberra, who would make voyages to Australia, marked a new era of ocean travel. It was the biggest ship to be built by Harland and Wolff shipyard since White Star's Britannic in 1914
