The Canterbury Pilgrims in the Yard of the Tabard Inn, 1387

An artist's impression of how Chaucer's Canterbury Pilgrims may have looked as they stood in the yard of the Tabard Inn, 17th April 1387. On foot, from left to right, are the following: Friar, Groom, Chaucer, Reeve, Summoner, Pardoner, Cook, Miller, Serjeant-at-Law and the Monk. Mounted on horses, left to right, are: Manciple, Squire, Shipman, Host, Knight, Prioress, Nun's Priest, Franklin, Wife of Bath and the Doctor
