Central African pigmies performing at the London Hippodrome

Bambuti pigmies from the Ituri Forest in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo, seen performing on stage at the London Hippodrome in 1905, where their native environment was created for audiences. They were brought to the UK by Colonel Harrison of Brandeston Hall, E. Yorkshire and after their 14-week run at the Hippodrome, toured around the country, staying with Harrison in Yorkshire in between times. They returned to the Congo after two years
