Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria
Charles Dickens received by Queen Victoria at Buckingham Palace in 1870. In exchange for an autographed set of his books, the Queen gave Dickens a book written by herself and inscribed to him, with the remark that "the humblest of writers would be ashamed to offer it to one of the greatest."
