Chartwell bought for the nation
Feature in The Illustrated London News, 1946, reporting that Chartwell Manor, in Westerham Kent, home of Sir Winston Churchill, had been purchased for the nation, with Churchill to remain living there during his lifetime. Chartwell is now in the care of the National Trust and is well worth a visit
