Coronation 1902 - preparing the state landau
Preparing for the Coronation of King Edward VII - putting the finishing touches on a state landau. The new hammercloth was of rich vermillion cloth, purple velvet and gold lace, frieze and bullion, with the gold coat of arms beautifully chased in the centre. The firm responsible for its construction was W. and F. Thorn who had also prepared several other landaus for his Majesty's visitors for the coronation, painted in claret and red (the royal colours) and lined with blue
