Coronation morning in the stables
An impression by Fortunino Matania of the famous Windsor Greys ready harnessed in the stableyard before taking the State coach to the Palace entrance on the morning of the Coronation of King George VI on 12 May 1937. They are a magnificent sight with their shining gilt studs and medallions bearing the Royal arms set on a background of imperial purple
