Cossack patrol in Balakhany
Cossack patrol in Balakhany, near Baku in Azerbaijan. Cossacks patrolling the oil fields after conflict between the Armenians and Tartars and subsequent fighting between the Tartars and Russian government troops led to destruction of the oil derricks that had covered the area. The massacres started during the Russian Revolution of 1905
