Group of Arctic explorers cutting a channel through the ice fields, for their ship to follow, 1875. The men are employing a large A frame to power their ice saw. This imaginary scene was published in the Illustrated London News at the time of the departure of the British Arctic Expedition, led by Captain George Nares, between 1875 and 1876
