David Livingstone (1813-1873), the Scottish missionary and explorer, being attacked by a lion in the Mabotsa Valley, Africa, 1843. The discoverer of Victoria Falls, Livingstone's extensive explorations of Central Africa were chiefly driven by the strength of his missionary ideals. He died in Zambia in 1873, while searching for the source of the Nile
