 : Dressed for the Abbey

Dressed for the Abbey

Fashions among the royal wedding guests at the marriage of Princess Margaret to Anthony Armstrong Jones (Earl Snowdon) on 6 May 1960 at Westminster Abbey. On the left, the Hon, Lady Eccles, wife of Sir David Eccles, Minister for Education, wore a navy and black doodle print silk dress and duster coat lined with white silk by Mattli. Her high ribbon velvet banded turban of navy tulle by Simone Mirman drew much admiration. On the right, the Countess of Dalkeith wore an ecru re-embroidered lace dress, the neckline outlined with toning satin which was also used to cover the belt by Victor Stiebel. The Breton hat of ecru coloured tulle was also by Simone Mirman
