The Earl of Carnarvon
The Earl of Carnarvon the initiator of the explorations in the Valley of the Kings. Born in 1866, Carnarvon sponsored Howard Carter's excavations of the royal tombs in Thebes. He died shortly after the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1923, perpetuating the myth of The Curse of Tutankhamen
