East London Mission Hall 1908
Medland Hall homeless shelter in Medland Street, Ratcliff. In March 1908 there were 2, 400 destitute men given shelter in the Mission Hall while 1, 900 men turned away. Drawing by Fortunino Matania of an evening scene at the missionary where music is played on the gramophone, after bread is distributed each seat is turned over to make beds and the men are allowed to sleep there to the early morning
