Easton Park as a hospital, WW1

Easton Park, Wickham Market in Suffolk, England, converted into a fourteen bed hospital for wounded soldiers and sailors during the First World War. The house belonged to the Marquis and Marchioness of Graham. The latter (pictured centre in the top photograph) was formerly Lady Mary Louise Douglas-Hamilton (1884-1957), only daughter of the 12th Duke of Hamilton. She inherited his property and an income of £35, 000 a year making her one of the wealthiest women in the country. The Marquish was the eldest son and heir of the 5th Duke of Montrose who was Commodore in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve during the war. The Marchioness was awarded the OBE in 1918. She is pictured flanked by nursing sister, Mrs MacKeller and her mother, Mary Duchess of Hamilton
