Eddie Gifford, the one-legged cyclist in a photograph demonstrating his death-defying leap on a bicycle from an elevated platform on the roof of the Hippodrome. He plunged off the platform, through the hole in the roof and into the water tank below. Gifford had lost his leg in a previous stunt
