Edward VII (1841 - 1910), raising his hat during a visit to Paris, in 1903. Known as the Uncle of Europe and with sophisticated diplomatic skills (including fluent spoken French), the King was instrumental in laying the foundations for the Entente Cordiale, the historic agreement between Britain and France, signed in 1904
