The emigration ship, the Hibernia, floundering off the Irish coast. The image was taken from a sketch by Mr. John C. Forbes, one of the survivors, and shows the life boats struggling in stormy seas. Seventy lives were lost in the storm as a result of an accident to the propeller shaft
