Evicted family on the road, Connemara, Ireland 1880
A miserable scene of tiredness and destitution of an evicted family on a snowbound road. Their cart contains their few possessions and the horse drawing the cart has collapsed with hunger and fatigue. These miserable conditions were brought on by the potato famine in the mid 19th century and further compounded by the forced evictions of poverty-stricken peasants from their homes and farms
