Frederick Pethick-Lawrence, 1st Baron Pethick-Lawrence (1871 - 1961), British Labour politician who, among other things, campaigned for women's suffrage. Photograph taken around the time his wife Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence a British women's rights activist and Suffragette, refused to keep the peace and was sent to Holloway Prison. Hearing this sentence Frederick Pethick-Lawrence offered to pay £10 a day to the Suffragettes funds while she was in prison
