French artillery ammunition field depot 1917
Carrying shells forward to the batteries, 155mm and 220mm projectiles. In a short distances of the battle line in Oise on the French front, French soldier carry on their shoulders a battery, 155mm or approximately 6 inch calibre shells, they weigh about 100lb apiece. The 220mm projectiles have to be carried by two men on a four handled ammunition trays, each weighs upwards of 350lb
