French rat catches in the trenches, 1916, WW1
An official rat catcher of the French trenches, delivering his trophies to a non-commissioned officer. Special measures were put in place to combat rat infestation in the trenches: the French army employed rat catchers with dogs to tackle the problem, reportedly being rewarded with a penny per tail
