Funeral of the Dowager Empress of Russia

The hearse carrying the coffin at the funeral on 19th October 1928, of Marie Feodorovna, Dowager Empress of Russia (1848 - 1928), formerly Princess Dagmar of Denmark, wife of Tsar Alexander III, sister of Queen Alexandra and mother of Tsar Nicholas II. The Empress was buried in Roskilde Cathedral in Copenhagen, but in September 2006, her remains will be returned to Russia to be buried alongside her husband at the Fortress of St. Peter and Paul in St. Petersburg, the burial place of the Romanovs
