Funeral of the Dowager Empress of Russia
Royalty following the hearse at the funeral procession of Marie Feodorovna, Dowager Empress of Russia (1848 - 1928), formerly Princess Dagmar of Denmark, sister of Queen Alexandra, Princess of Wales and wife of Tsar Alexander III. From left, the Duke of York (later King George VI), the King Haakon VII of Norway, Prince Waldemar and King Frederik VIII of Denmark. The Dowager Empress lived in Denmark following the deposition of the Russian Imperial family and was buried at Roskilde Cathedral in Copenhagen. In September 2006, the remains of Marie Feodorovna will be returned to Russia and buried alongside her husband at the Fortress of St. Peter and Paul in St. Petersburg, burial place of the Romanovs
