General Ducrot's Forces crossing the Marne; Franco-Prussian
French troops, under the command of General Ducrot, crossing the Marne River to launch a counter attack against the Prussians, 29th November 1870. This action, known as La Grande Sortie, was an attempt to break the 10 week old siege of Paris. It was not successful and the siege lasted for 4 months, before French capitulation
