Gladys Calthrop as a pilot
Gladys Edith Mabel Calthrop (nee Treeby), (1894 - 1980), artist and leading British stage designer, best known as the set and costume designer and for her collaborations, providing set and costumes for her friend Noel Coward's plays. She was also a pilot and is pictured here by a plane. The Sketch reports she had completed her Blind-Flying course at Heston, and had piloted a plane in order to fly designs for the actress Yvonne Printemps
