Retail supremo, F. Gordon Selfridge, founder of London department store, Selfridges, pictured with American-born Chinese film star, Anna May Wong. The pair, according to The Tatler, were long-standing friends, and Selfridge had accompanied his daughter, the Comtesse de Sibour (Violet), to watch Wong while she was filming Daughter of Shanghai for Paramount in Hollywood
