Great Bank of England Fraud - scene in Old Bailey
A scene in the Central Criminal Courthouse at the Old Bailey, London, during the trial of four Americans accused of forging and fraudulently uttering foreign bills of exchange at the West End branch of the Bank of England. The four are seen sitting at the front of the dock. From the left, Austin Bidwell; George Macdonnell (leaning forward to talk to his counsel); George Bidwell and Edwin Noyes. All four were found guilty by jury, and the judge, Mr Justice Archibald, sentenced them to penal servitude for life
