The Great Fire in Dublin at a whisky warehouse

The Great Fire in Dublin: sappers cutting off the whisky flowing from Reid's malt-house and Malone's bonded warehouse in the Liberties area of the city where a fire broke out on the night of 18 June 1875. According to the report in The Illustrated London News, a number of people died or were taken to hospital after scooping up the boiling hot whisky in hats and boots and then imbibing! "Two corn-porters, named Healy and McNulty, were found in a lane off Cork Street, lying insensible, with their boots off, which they had evidently used to collect the liquor."
