Great railway strike, Stratford 1919
Deserted railway track at Stratford. The station was at a standstill during the great railway strike. The strike took place in the last two weeks of September 1919. After the initial shock of the strike, lorries were brought in to transport goods. This move proved to have a detrimental affect on the railways, as companies began to realise there was an alternative for transporting freight
