Harrison's Ice Making Machine 1858

The ice making machine, designed by Mr. Harrison of Geelong, Australia. Built by Mr. Siebe of Denmark Street, Soho, London, this machine was a prototype reportedly capable of producing 5, 000 to 6, 000 pounds of ice per day. This machine used evaporation of ether in a vacuum to produce refrigeration and was driven by a ten-horse power steam engine
