Hesse family killed in air crash over Ostend
Page from The Illustrated London News reporting on the deaths of the Grand Duke of Hesse, his wife Cecile (sister to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh), the Dowager Duchess of Hesse and the couple's two sons, Alexander and Louis, in an air crash over Ostend on 16 November 1937. The family were travelling from Munich to London for the wedding of the Duke's brother to Margaret Geddes but encountered heavy fog and crashed into the chimney of a brick yard. There were no survivors
