Hitler, Ribbentrop & Londonderry
On a private visit to Germany, former Air Minister Lord Londonderry (on the left) is introduced to Hitler by the latter's Ambassador-at-Large, Joachim von Ribbentrop (on the right). Following his dismaissal from the cabinet at the end of 1935, Londonderry saw himself as an unofficial link between the British Government and Hitler, but his actions were subject to much criticism at home and on his return from Germany only one cabinet minister was prepared to meet him, and that was his own son-in-law
