H.M. The Queen's Obeisance at 1937 Coronation
Scene in Westminster Abbey where Queen Elizabeth, after being crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the faldstool before the Altar, moves to her own Throne situated on the platform on the left and slightly below that of the King (George VI). As she passes the King's Throne the Queen makes a deep curtsey to him, pausing in front of him, the King standing and bowing to her in return. Illustration by Charles Robinson who died that same year
