Holloway Castle's prison creche

Holloway Castle women's prison introduced the first creche for prison babies. Babies were admitted if they were born in prison or were under three months when their mothers were jailed. The babies slept in cots within their mother's cell, with nurses overseeing the babies welfare. At nine months of age the baby had to leave the prison
